WHEREAS: A new rule (set to go into effect on November 24, 2003) allowing cell phone users to keep their cell phone number when switching carriers is predicted to produce millions of “retired” cell phones, ending up in landfills and leaking chemicals into the ground; now therefore be it
ORDERED: That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to report back to the City Council with a plan to promote recycling of “retired” cell phones and programs where cell phones can be donated to charitable causes.
