Re: Tree Protection Ordinance
Dear Mr. DePasquale:
I am attaching hereto for transmission to the City Council a proposed amendment to
Section 8.66 of the Municipal Ordinance relating to Tree Protection and related Orders. The
proposed amendment would further extend the provisions relating to tree removal in violation of
Section 8.66.055 of the Ordinance to June 30, 2021. This amendment is necessary because the
current provisions of that section expire on April 29, 2021. Because there is insufficient time to
advertise the proposed amendment and move it to a second reading as required by Section
1.12.030 of the Municipal Code, it may be passed through all stages of legislation at a meeting of
the City Council, pursuant to City Council Rule 20, if it is determined by the City Council to be
an emergency measure pursuant to G.L. c.43, 820.
I am available to answer any questions the City Council may have.
Very truly yours,
Glowa
