Attn: Cambridge City Council 795 Massachusetts Avenue cambridge, MA 02139 The Honorable, Cambridge City Council, Everyone loves a comeback story, and Central Square is poised to tell a great one this summer. In anticipation of warmer weather and higher vaccination rates, many BID initiatives are in motion to create safe, outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy. These include a Patios and Plazas design program to support the restaurant community, a district-wide lighting assessment and redesign, programming of Starlight Square season 2, and the development of Meet Me in Central, a seasonal campaign to lift up Central Square as a must-visit local destination. Meet Me in Central gets its name from a 1985 photography exhibit by Central Square photographer, Jeffrey Dunn of black and white street photography. Images show barkeeps and restaurateurs, residents in the streets, and sign age of streetscapes past. We are recreating this concept in 2021, showcasing the many faces and facets oftoday's Cultural District. We will be working with local photographer, Sam Williams, and videographer, Geoffrey Baptiste, to remake Meet Me in Central, creating a series of black and white images and one :60 spot to be used in digital placements. Black and white photography will be incorporated into designs with bold typographic elements and hand·brushed strokes of color that reference the Starlight logo. Our application states that the street poll banners would have a flight period of Mid May- Mid October, we would also use the same graphics to be placed on the Big Belly trash receptacles and in other visible places throughout the district. Please be in contact with any questions or concerns. Thank you in advance for your support.
