Case Snapshot (cont’d) Genetic Sequencing and Variants ●MDPH does not report back to LPH the number of samples sequenced for each community, but tracks variant cases detected through genomic sequencing. ●19 variant cases have been identified among Cambridge residents. ●Based on these data and the CDC prevalence estimates, we are assuming that B.1.1.7 is circulating in Cambridge and across the state. ●We do not believe that the other variants of concern detected among Cambridge residents are circulating. 3

City Vaccine Update ●To date, 4,134 people had received at least one dose of (Moderna) or the single-shot (J&J) vaccine at City-run clinics. ●30 people received a first dose of the Moderna vaccine at the My Brother’s Keeper clinic on May 15: ○ Black Non-Hispanic: 40.0% ○ Hispanic, all races: 33.3% ○ White non-Hispanic: 13.3% ○ Asian: 10.0% ○ Non-response: 3.3% ●CFD and Pro-EMS J&J clinic at CambridgeSide this Sunday, May 23; using CPHD registration system. ●CPHD is working with CPS on a vaccine clinic for teens, for 1st and 2nd doses of Pfizer. 5 CPHD staff and Mayor Siddiqui at the MBK clinic on May 15.

City Vaccine Update, cont’d ●Robust outreach by CPHD, Cambridge Community Corps, and City partners has been highly successful in vaccinating hard-to-reach and vulnerable populations (North Cambridge, unhoused community, disabled and low-income seniors, homebound). ●Continue to work with community groups, CET, Literacy Ambassadors, small business community. ●Clinicians Speakers Bureau: ○Haitian-Creole forum on Wed, May 19 ○Spanish speaking forum on Thurs, May 27 ●This will be a slow-moving process; people who are hesitant need to see and hear from trusted and vaccinated community leaders and friends. 8
State Opening Update • Today, Gov. Baker announced that all remaining COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted effective May 29. • The Commonwealth’s face covering order will also be rescinded on May 29. • MDPH will issue a new face covering advisory consistent with CDC’s updated guidance • Playgrounds: There is no explicit requirement about playgrounds, but the state and City’s orders require masks outside for everyone 5 and older if they are unable to maintain 6’ social distance 9
