City of Cambridge Agenda Item Number 2 IN CITY COUNCIL May 24, 2021 WHEREAS: WHEREAS: Having convened in an open meeting on May 18, 2021, prior to the SOI submission closing date, the Cambridge School Committee of Cambridge, Massachusetts, in accordance with its charter, by-laws, and ordinances, has voted to authorize the Superintendent to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority the Statement of Interest Form dated no later than June 1, 2021 for the Morse School located at 40 Granite Street, Cambridge, which describes and explains the following deficiencies and the priority category for which an application may be submitted to the Massachusetts School Building Authority in the future; and The funds are sought to be used for the replacement of the building’s boilers; and WHEREAS: WHEREAS: ORDERED: The Granite Street building’s boilers are more than twenty-eight years old, have antiquated controls and have had multiple leaks repaired. Given the age and condition of these boilers, they will soon be beyond further repair; and This project falls under priority category number 5, which is for the replacement, renovation, or modernization of school facility systems, such as roofs, windows, boilers, heating and ventilation systems, to increase energy conservation and decrease energy related costs in a school facility; now therefore be it The Cambridge City Council hereby further specifically acknowledges that by submitting this Statement of Interest Form, the Massachusetts School Building Authority in no way guarantees the acceptance or the approval of an application, the awarding of a grant or any other funding commitment from the Massachusetts School Building Authority, or commits the City/School District to filing an application for funding with the Massachusetts School Building Authority.
