PETITION FOR AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE TO ENACT AN ORDINANCE TO LIMIT AND MONITOR CAMPAIGN DONATIONS IN LOCAL ELECTIONS BY INDIVIDUALS SEEKING FINANCIAL REWARD FROM THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the City of Cambridge is hereby authorized to enact an ordinance to limit and monitor campaign donations in local elections by individuals seeking financial reward from the City of Cambridge, as provided in the attached Ordinance, and as such Ordinance may be amended in the future as long as such amendments are of the type that are within the City’s home rule powers to adopt. SECTION 2. Individuals subject to the Ordinance shall be those persons and entities defined in the Ordinance. SECTION 3. This Act shall be effective after its enactment and after acceptance by affirmative vote of a majority of the Cambridge City Council.
