May 2, 2022 To the Honorable, the City Council: I am hereby requesting the appropriation of the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) from the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) in the amount of $39,600.00 to the Grant Fund Fire Extraordinary Expenditures account. The funds will be used to purchase a new vehicle to support the Emergency Preparedness and Coordination office. This vehicle, a Ford Escape Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), will replace a 2007 8-cylinder gas vehicle currently in use. This vehicle meets the Massachusetts Green Communities criteria and is one of the most efficient SUVs available for public safety purposes. This request has been reviewed and approved by the Green Fleet Committee. This Plug-In Hybrid Vehicle will also qualify for a rebate of up to $5000 through the Massachusetts Electric Vehicle Incentive Program (MassEVIP). Very truly yours, Louis A.
