The task Force included members representing a diverse range of interests and perspectives. Their recommendations bring together forward-thinking site and building scale ideas to tackle Cambridge’s anticipated climate change vulnerabilities – flooding and heat. This work should be seen in the context of the Resilient Cambridge Plan. The Plan includes a series of additional non-zoning recommendations and actions at the neighborhood, infrastructure, city, and regional scale, many of which are actively underway. Based on the work of the Task Force and feedback received from the committee’s discussion, Community Development Department, Law Department, and Department of Public Works staff have developed the attached draft text to translate the recommendations into zoning. We are sharing this draft with the City Council, Planning Board, and the Task Force for discussion and comment before finalizing into a zoning petition that may be filed for consideration and adoption.
