CITY HALL, CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS 02139 TEL: [phone removed] FAX: [phone removed] | TTY/TDD: [phone removed] | EMAIL: ptoner@cambridgema.gov CAMBRIDGE CITY COUNCIL Paul Toner City Councillor To: Cambridge City Council and City Manager From: Councillor Paul Toner Date: March 16, 2023 Subject: Questions regarding Requests to Fund Heart Using City Funds On December 22, 2022 Councillor Simmons and I submitted the attached letter to City Manager Huang outlining our questions and concerns about proposals to have the City Manager directly fund HEART. We continue to raise these concerns and seek answers from the City Manager, City Solicitor, and Commissioner of the Cambridge Police Department before committing any city funding to HEART. Before voting to commit any funding to HEART or any other alternative response provider, we believe that the council needs answers to these essential questions and ask that the City Manager, City Solicitor and Commissioner provide responses before the council votes on any funding proposals for any alternative response provider. Sincerely, Councillor Paul Toner
