Transmitting Communication from Yi-An Huang, City Manager, relative to the appropriation of $4,000.00 to the Grant Fund Human Services Other Ordinary Maintenance account. These funds were awarded to the Summer Food Program by Project Bread and will be used to enhance promotion and outreach, support activities, and for program related supplies. CMA 2023 #180 This is almost exactly $4055 which Kids Fighting Against Hunger - Project Bread - The Walk for Hunger raised. The team was made up of my neighbors, caring Cantabridgians and their family and friends. As the name implies, it was led by Co-Captain Ileana (5 year old!) and Co-Captain Kamala (she is 20 months old!). I can't thank enough the generous support that will enable food-insecure children to have nourishment food through the summer! I would like to thank Vice Mayor Alanna and Councillor Carlone on their years of dedicated services as they move forward to new ventures. I remember Vice Mayor Alanna's enthusiastic support of Walk for Hunger going back to 2018. Looking through old email exchanges with her, it saddens me to note that In 2017, 11 funded agencies in Cambridge received $41,700. Although the hunger insecurity persists, due to new ways of allocating funds, the City received 1/10 of that amount. But I am sure other agencies received grants directly through the new procedure. I will adjust my strategy for soliciting support in accordance with the new procedure. Respectfully yours, Young Kim Norris Street
