Denise Simmons Mayor City Councillor 2008-2009 2016-2017 September 12, 2023 City Clerk Diane LeBlanc City Clerk’s Office Cambridge City Hall Cambridge, MA 02139 Re: Filing Reconsideration For POR 2023 #159 Dear Madam Clerk, I am writing to you to file Reconsideration of POR 2023 #159 <http://cambridgema.iqm2.com/Citizens/Detail_LegiFile.aspx?Frame=None&MeetingID=4384&MediaP osition=&ID=20563&CssClass=> (“That the City Council go on record in opposition to the Cambridge Police Department and the City of Cambridge government sending trainees to, participating in any collaborations with, or supporting the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center or any similar facilities, in any way.”) from last night’s City Council meeting. This policy order was passed without discussion as part of the balance of items being voted upon for adoption. After the meeting concluded, I had some discussions with public safety advocates that gave me some concerns about some of the language that is contained in this policy order, and that is my reason for filing Reconsideration. I thank you for your attention to this matter.
