A communication transmitted from Yi-An Huang, City Manager, relative to the evaluation of the 2023 Street Cleaning Pilot and recommended language for special legislation to increase fines
AN ACT AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CAMBRIDGE TO INCREASE THE FINES
FOR FAILURE TO MOVE PARKED VEHICLES DURING STREET CLEANING IN
THE CITY ABOVE THE LIMITS SET FORTH IN M.G.L. C. 90, §20A½ OR OTHER
APPLICABLE STATE LAWS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives in the General Court
assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Notwithstanding any other general or special law to the contrary:
SECTION 1. The City of Cambridge may prescribe a schedule of fines for violations of its
ordinances, rules, and regulations related to the prohibition on parking in any street or part
thereof within City bounds for the purposes of facilitating the cleaning of streets beyond the
limits of fines prescribed in M.G.L. c. 90, §20A½ or other applicable state laws.
SECTION 2. The City may issue fines authorized under this schedule up to a maximum of two
hundred fifty dollars ($250.00), including all applicable fines and penalties.
SECTION 3. This act shall take full effect upon passage.
