Resolution on the Death of Lieby Bouchard

VICE MAYOR MCGOVERN
WHEREAS:
The City Council was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Lieby Bouchard who
passed away on December 29, 2023, at the age of 87; and
WHEREAS:
Lieby led a life of service and her dedication to those in need transcended almost
everything else in her life; and
WHEREAS:
Lieby served as the Project Director of the Harvard Square Churches Meal Program for
thirty years, from 1983 to 2013, and upon retirement, continued to be an integral part
of the program as a volunteer; and
WHEREAS:
In 2010, Lieby was granted a Lifetime Achievement Award for “Extraordinary
Community Service to the People of Cambridge” from the Cambridge Volunteer
Clearinghouse; and
WHEREAS:
Lieby will be warmly remembered by colleagues, volunteers, and guests of the
Thursday Night Meal as the creative, positive force behind the 42-year life of the
Harvard Square Churches Meal Program; and
WHEREAS:
Lieby will be missed by all those whose lives she touched and brightened, especially
her beloved husband of sixty years, Alfred Bouchard; now therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council formally go on record expressing its deepest condolences to the
family and friends of Lieby Bouchard for their tremendous loss; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of
this resolution to the family of Lieby Bouchard on behalf of the entire City Council.
