I live on Rindge Avenue. I am 71 years old and increasingly depending on bicycling to get around Cambridge and Boston. I am writing regarding City Manager Huang's Agenda Item #5 and am in support of Option #1: two way biking, retaining current parking for cars, and retaining one way driving. Looking at Commissioner MeKenna's March 26th report to the City Manager, it is abundantly clear that data supports option #1 for adequate parking, safer biking, and more traffic calming than any of the other options. I disagree with the notion that protected bike lanes on Garden Street have increased traffic on side streets when it is well-documented that more people are driving in Cambridge than ever before. Given how consistently and loudly Cambridge residents have advocated for protecting street parking, you can expect disappointment and push-back if it is removed. Please vote for option #1. Respectfully, Tom Hirschi 39 Rindge Avenue
