PARK(ing) Day 2016 turned 96 parking spots into parks, playgrounds, Vision Zero outreach spots, Envision Cambridge discussion locations, and separated bike lanes for the day. PARK(ing) Day Storymap had close to 1000 views. Over 50 unique tweets using #ParkingDay2016 and dozens more using #ParkingDay & #CambMA • Hosted transportation workshops with almost 200 City of Cambridge employees, and talked about the rules of the road for people on bike and the dangerous activities for people who drive

Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP): Provides funding for enforcement overtime shifts focusing on observed traffic infractions that represent most harmful behavior at priority intersections. Priority infractions enforced consisted of crosswalk violations, speeding, red light / stop sign and distracted driving violations Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety grant: This grant funds overtime enforcement efforts related to bicycle and pedestrian safety. Patrols were conducted during the morning and evening commuting periods and were concentrated at intersections with the highest reported accident totals. Among the areas targeted for enforcement were: Harvard Square, Porter Square, Central Square, Lafayette Square and Inman Square. The most frequent violations issued were for: Failure to Yield to Pedestrian in a Crosswalk, Red Light / Stop Sign, Improper Turn, and marked lane violation Bike Safety Month (May): For the third consecutive year the Cambridge Police Department either lead or participated in a number of initiatives and events intended to increase the safety of all people who bicycle, drive or walk. CPD hosted and/or partnered in over 15 bike safety educational events in May 2016 engaging in hundreds of conversations and educational opportunities. CPD combined it's in person engagement with a concentrated messaging campaign with an active presence on social media and the utilization of variable message boards promoting road safety.
