November 16, 2017 : Inspectional Services Department City of Cambridge 831 Massachusetts Avenue, 15t Floor Cambridge, MA 02139 RE: Curb Cut Application, 41 Magazine Street To Whom It May Concern: My name is Margaret Wheeler and I am the property owner and current resident of the single family residence located at 41 Magazine Street in Cambridge. I am in the process of applying for a permit for a new, ten foot wide curb cut and two off-street parking spaces, as shown on the attached plot plan. Between September 30' and October 21s of this year, 1 visited abutters to the front, side, rear, and across Magazine Street from my property. I made two or three attempts at each property at different times of the day, and during the process met some very supportive neighbors. Attached are six forms signed by abutters expressing approval for the curb cuf, as well as a summary of each property visited. I received no forms expressing disapproval, but was unable to obtain signatures at some of the properties. I attribute this to several factors: properties occupied by renters instead of owners; occupants who (according to neighbors) travel frequently; difficulties in communication; and lack of interest in the process. Sincerely, Margaut Weier Margaret Wheeler Cambridge Resident Enclosed: Abutter Sunmary, updated 11/16/2017 (1 p.) We're concerned about the paving of front, side and backyards in Cambridgeport and believe that it's time for the City to develop guidelines for residential curb cuts. We need less, not more, impervious surfaces! Thank you, Cathie Zusy for the Board of the Cambridgeport Neighborhood Association, Inc.
