My name is William Frese & 1 am a visual artist & musician I have been
working in the EMF Building since occupancy in 2007. I attended the
school of the museum of fine arts & Tufts & without the comradely &
insights of many of the artists who are part of EMF, my graduation would
not have been possible. (ATRESS= 15 CHANNE CENTER SE DZZI0)
I greatly appreciate the opportunity to speak here today. My intent is to
ask of The City Manager to work with Trinity Property Management
towards the goal of postponing the April 30th 2018 eviction deadline for
1 Ulthe creative small businesses working within The "EMF" Building located
- at110-120 Brookline Street.
I use the term "Creative Small Business's" because the term "Tenant" does
not describe accurately OUR vibrant, diverse, cultural collective that has
flourished within the EMF building since 2007. It is a community of
Musicians, artists, teachers & at the core of the building, New Alliance
Productions Recording facility. New Alliance has been Boston/Cambridge's
premier recording & mastering studio since 1987. Their successful audio-
engineer intern program has provided hands on access to young
independent engineers & also, provided valuable credit for students
enrolled in many of Boston's music colleges. Many of their musician clients
have gone onto national success & even word wide notoriety.
The logistics to move these small creative businesses into a space with
minimal downtime, are many. The logistics involved to move The New
Alliance recording facility is a task even Sisyphus would find daunting.
If "Difficulties do indeed give us the opportunity to show our greatness by
; I respectfully petition the City Manager of Cambridge of
overcoming them"
Et The Arts Council to break this deplorable cycle of urban development
that inevitably leads to cultural displacement.
Postpone the eviction deadline & work with our EMF Collective leaders to
find a new location for our creative small business's.
Thank You
