Sullivan, Executive Directoll Re: Cheney Read House (135 Western Avenue) landmark designation report and CHC recommendation Attached please find the Final Landmark Designation Report for the Cheney Read House at 135 Western Avenue. On March 1, 2018, the Cambridge Historical Commission voted unanimously to approve the designation report and recommendations, finding that the property meets the criteria in the ordinance for landmark designation and to forward the report to the City Council with a positive recommendation for designation. The owner's representative, Steve Dai of Bluepower LLC, was present at the hearing and registered no objections to the proposed landmark designation. His architect, Jai Khalsa of Khalsa Design Inc., presented a preliminary design for an anticipated rear addition. The Commission voted to grant provisional support for the massing and footprint of the addition on the understanding that the owner would apply for a certificate of approval at some point in the future and request approval of more detailed design plans. Please let me know if you have any questions.
