Petition to the City of Cambridge, April 8, 2018 We, the undersigned, being residents of Clinton Street and the larger Clinton Street neighborhood, and being concerned about excessive speed on Clinton Street in mid-Cambridge, write to request the City of Cambridge install three speed bumps or speed platforms along the length of Clinton Street. On Friday April 6, 2018, there was an accident in the late afternoon, where a car backing out of a driveway was hit by a car going down Clinton Street. The car that was hit was displaced by the impact approximately 3.5 feet from it's original, pre- impact location. Given that the accident occurred within 100 feet of Harvard Street, the car that caused the accident was seriously exceeding the speed limit. There are small children and pets and elderly people living on Clinton Street. We are all concerned for the safety of the residents and anyone using the street. Please install speed platforms or speed bumps and speed limit signs to help drivers use a more moderate, appropriate speed on this narrow, residential street. Thank you.
