Thanks to Risa Mednick for her many years of dedicated service to the Transition House

City of Cambridger R-1 ORIGINAL ORDER IN CITY COUNCIL June 4, 2018 COUNCILLOR TOOMEY COUNCILLOR MALLON MAYOR MCGOVERN COUNCILLOR SIDDIQUI WHEREAS: It has come to the attention of the City Council that Risa Mednick will be leaving her position as Executive Director of the Transition House after ten years of exemplary service; and WHEREAS: Risa began her work with the Transition House in 2008 as a board member and was named the Executive Director in 2002; and WHEREAS: Risa has been a tireless advocate on social equity and has worked diligently to advance the Transition House’s mission to break the cycle of domestic violence in our community; and WHEREAS: Under her leadership, the Transition House has been able to renovate their shelter, triple their budget, double their staff, increase housing capacity and provide more programming support; and WHEREAS: Risa has developed innovative cross-sector partnerships that have led to the creation of the Community Support Partnership and the Cambridge Domestic and Gender Based Violence Prevention Initiatives; and WHEREAS: Risa’s advocacy for human rights and social change has made a positive difference in the lives of countless members of the community and the tremendous ripple effects from her many years of dedicated service will continue to better the lives of countless individuals throughout Cambridge for many years to come; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record thanking Risa Mednick for her many years of dedicated and outstanding work as the Executive Director of the Transition House and wishing her the best in her future endeavors; and RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to Risa Mednick on behalf of the entire City Council.
