DePasquale, City Manager From: Iram Farooq, Assistant City Manager for Community Development Re: Awaiting Report 18-10 dated 1/29/18 regarding creating a list of private meeting and conference rooms that are available to the public through development mitigation Date: November 13, 2018 Special permits for development projects may include mitigation of project impacts as conditions of the special permit. These vary by project and could include a range of items such as transportation improvements, public space improvements, items for continued design review, construction management, and storm water management. Requiring public use of meeting or conference rooms is not a typical development mitigation included in special permit conditions. Some commitments to make spaces available for public use have been made by developers through discussions with neighborhood residents and community organizations, rather than as special permit conditions. CDD staff has surveyed the special permits approved by the Cambridge Planning Board to check for commitments to allow community groups access to meeting and conference rooms. Only one such commitment was included in the special permit decision. Location Description Contact Information 88 CambridgePark Drive The developer made a commitment to create a public community space on the first- floor. This building is not yet complete, but a final occupancy certificate is expected by this winter. Kiley Johnson at KJohnson@ HanoverCambridgepark.com There are two additional developer commitments to allow public use of meeting spaces. These are not conditions of a special permit, but were agreements between the developer and neighborhood residents or groups. The property owners have not provided specific eligibility criteria for use, but community groups may inquire about using space by contacting the persons listed below: Location Description Contact Information 1 Education Street Education First (EF): ▪ Ground floor conference room ▪ 2nd floor meeting space Space may be booked when not scheduled for internal EF events Hallie Moran at [email removed]
