Lopez, Donna ATTACHMENTC From: Devereux, Jan Sent: Wednesday, November 7, 2018 3:10 PM To: Lopez, Donna Subject: Fwd: Gas Safety Please add this to the public comment for today's hearing on gas safety. Begin forwarded message: From: Kristine Jelstrup «[email removed]> Sate: CoVerse 7, 2018 at 1:18.08 PM EST To: jdevereux@cambridgema.gov. Quinton Zondervan <[email removed]> Dear Jan and Quinton, Thank you so much for holding the gas safety hearing today. I'm sure Debbie represented the concerns of Mothers Out Front weil. I had hoped to go but am still home nursing a head cold. Had I gone I would have liked to have made the following statement at public comment. As a resident of Cambridge and a mother of two I am dismayed by how quickly climate change will be affecting the lives of my family and neighbors here in Cambridge. I was already concerned but the recent report from the UNIPCC has me down right frightened. My two biggest concerns for life in Cambridge are the many more days of hot weather and the flood waters which we are predicted to be receiving in not too many years from now. 1 implore you to help us move away from gas completely, as soon as possible. Not only is it dangerous but what are all of us with gas fed boilers or furnaces in our basements going to do when they flood?! look to you for bold leadership that will help us withstand the dangers heading our way. For Cambridge and the rest of the world, we HAVE to be powered by renewable, sustainable energy and the sooner the Thanks for all you do for the citizens of Cambridge, I really appreciate your efforts on so many fronts.
