CAMBRIDGE CITY COUNCIL
Jan Devereux
Vice Mayor
December 17, 2018
Dear Fellow Councillors and City Staff,
I will be out of town this Monday and will miss the final meeting of 2018. I wanted to take a
moment to wish you all happy holidays and to thank you for helping to make 2018 a very
productive year for the Council and the City, Together with City Manager DePasquale and his
tireless and endlessly patient staff, we have taken on a lot of important and challenging topics
this year and have accomplished quite a bit to be proud of.
I would especially like to thank Mayor McGovern for his astute leadership right out of the gate,
and to send a shout-out to our three new members this term, Councillors Mallon, Siddiqui and
Zondervan, for bringing fresh eyes, and abundant critical and creative thinking to every meeting
and discussion. Councillors Carlone, Kelley, Simmons and Toomey, 1 appreciate your many years
ot dedicated service to Cambridge and your seasoned perspectives. My thanks to Naome and
Mary for keeping the Council Oltice running smoothly, and to the Clerk's Office for managing
the mountain of paperwork and digital files we generate every week. And last but certainly not
least, thank you to the mayor's staff and all the council aides who work very hard to keep us on
track and well prepared.
I expect our agenda in 2019 will be even more full, so 1 hope everyone can take some time at year-
end to pause and reflect on our priorities and shared service to the City.
Cheers!
