City of Cambridge O-8 ORIGINAL ORDER IN CITY COUNCIL February 11, 2019 COUNCILLOR TOOMEY COUNCILLOR MALLON WHEREAS: The Cambridge Police Department has officially unveiled a new Cambridge Cadet Program which is expected to begin in late 2019; and WHEREAS: The program is designed for Cambridge residents between the ages of 18-24 who are interested in pursuing a career in policing and will offer on-the job and classroom training; and WHEREAS: Careers in public safety offer excellent salaries, benefits and provide a meaningful way to serve our community; now therefore be it ORDERED: That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to commend the Cambridge Police Department on bringing the new Cambridge Cadet Program to fruition and to continue to support initiatives to recruit more Cambridge youth, especially women and minorities, in public safety careers.
