Upgrade Cambridge Municipal Broadband Petition The following names are signers of the Upgrade Cambridge petition to request the City Manager to move forward with a full feasibility study on municipal broadband. Each signed their name to the petition that follows. The internet has quickly evolved from a novelty to a daily necessity. Affordable, reliable, and fast internet access is a critical issue facing the city of Cambridge today. The previous City Manager identified these critical issues and created the Broadband Task Force in 2014 to recommend the best path forward. The current City Manager has rejected the recommendation of the Broadband Task Force released in 2016. In doing so, he is considering only the cost of a municipal broadband network, while ignoring the revenue and other benefits. We call on the City Manager to conduct a full feasibility study as recommended by the Broadband Task Force in 2016. In total, these signatures represent 1238 Cambridge residents, as well as 67 residents of other towns. While no particular effort was made to capture signatures of those from other towns, some who signed worked in Cambridge and wished to see municipal broadband in the city; others simply wished to see Cambridge move forward in general. While many signatures were captured online, many signatures were captured in person as well at a number of different events. The following pages include the printed names, and zip codes of all signers; and are followed by paper signatures representing a portion of the 293 signers who signed petitions in person at various events.
