Attachments shall be made with proper hardware and shall only be attached with non-corrosive metal clamps or brackets. 2. Banners attached to poles shall not exceed a total of 1800 square inches, approximately 18 inches x 48 inches, 24 inches x 36 inches, 24 inches × 48, or 30 inches x 60 inches. The actual size is subject to required clearances. 3. Banners cannot be attached to wood utility poles. 4. Banners shall have a minimum clearance of: a. 16 feet over a roadway b. 12 feet over a sidewalk 5. Banners shall not interfere with or obstruct, or otherwise block any roadway signs, lighting, or traffic signals. 6. The City reserves the right to remove, or order to be removed any banner deemed unsafe, not properly installed, or creating a hazard and the applicant may be subject to costs.
7. An applicant must provide a description of the materials the banner is made of, method of attachment, and means of installation (contractor name and contact information). Date: 1/29/20
MIT List Visual Arts Center January 29, 2019 Cambridge City Council 795 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, MA 02139 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing on behalf of the MIT List Visual Arts Center, the contemporary art museum at MIT to request permission to display banners on Ames Street, Main Street and Broadway St. The design of the banners is in keeping with the List Center's logo and design standards and will be professionally designed and printed according to material and size specifications as outlined in the attached request form. Banners utilize our logo and name of our institution to publicize, market and draw attention to the List Center's programs and exhibitions Enclosed please find a mock up for the banners. The banners will be printed and installed by Heritage Flag. Amy McDonald will be the supervising installer and vendor for this project. We'd like to include this request to be considered for the Monday, February 3, 2019 City Council Meeting. We would like to install these banners on Wednesday, February 5, 2019. Installation and de- installation dates are noted on the banner application form.
