RES 2026-45 FIRST IN COUNCIL March 16, 2026 City of Cambridge MAYOR SIDDIQUI COUNCILLOR SIMMONS COUNCILLOR AL-ZUBI VICE MAYOR AZEEM COUNCILLOR FLAHERTY COUNCILLOR MCGOVERN COUNCILLOR NOLAN COUNCILLOR SOBRINHO-WHEELER COUNCILLOR ZUSY WHEREAS: Cambridge is home to a vibrant and diverse small business community that contributes to the city’s economic vitality, cultural richness, and neighborhood life; and WHEREAS: Spaces that bring people together around food and culture help strengthen community connections and create welcoming gathering places for residents, workers, and visitors; and WHEREAS: Eastern Edge Food Hall located at 290 Main Street represents a new addition to Kendall Square, offering a shared space where a range of food vendors and culinary entrepreneurs can showcase their work and share their cuisines with the community; and WHEREAS: The food hall features local and regional vendors including Everybody Gotta Eat, Juicy Jay’s, Viet Citron, and Clover, reflecting the diversity and creativity of Cambridge’s food ecosystem; and WHEREAS: Several of the businesses participating in Eastern Edge Food Hall have benefited from the City of Cambridge’s small business support programs, including grants and technical assistance that help entrepreneurs grow and expand their operations; and WHEREAS: Eastern Edge Food Hall has drawn from the Cambridge community in building its staff and workforce, helping ensure the space remains connected to the local community; and WHEREAS: The food hall’s fully electric design demonstrates how new development can support the City’s sustainability goals while creating vibrant public spaces for people to gather; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record congratulating the team behind Eastern Edge Food Hall on the opening of this new space in Kendall Square; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the City Council welcomes Eastern Edge Food Hall as a new gathering place that supports small businesses, celebrates diverse cuisines, and contributes to the vibrancy of the Cambridge community; and be it further RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to the leadership and partners involved in bringing Eastern Edge Food Hall to life on behalf of the entire City Council.
