RES 2026-84 FIRST IN COUNCIL May 18, 2026 City of Cambridge MAYOR SIDDIQUI COUNCILLOR SIMMONS COUNCILLOR AL-ZUBI VICE MAYOR AZEEM COUNCILLOR FLAHERTY COUNCILLOR MCGOVERN COUNCILLOR NOLAN COUNCILLOR SOBRINHO-WHEELER COUNCILLOR ZUSY WHEREAS: The City Council was deeply saddened to learn about the death of Vinton B. Turner, beloved brother, husband, and long-time lead mechanic at the Cambridge Housing Authority, who passed away on May 6, 2026; and WHEREAS: Vinton Turner was the beloved brother of his siblings, Juliette, Gloria Grady, and Ronald, and loving husband to his wife, Nancy; and WHEREAS: Vinton and his family have deep ties to the City of Cambridge; he was born in Everett and grew up in the City of Cambridge on Concord Ave; and WHEREAS: Vinton worked for the Cambridge Housing Authority maintenance and facilities team for over 41 years, beginning October 23, 1973, before being promoted to lead mechanic in 1989, where he stayed until his retirement on September 5, 2019; and WHEREAS: The City Council recognizes that Vincent’s passing is deeply felt by his family, the Cambridge Housing Authority team, and the Cambridge community; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record extending its deepest sympathy to the family of Vinton Turner at this time of such personal loss; and be it further RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to his family on behalf of the entire City Council.
