David Murphy Superintendent 135 Berkshire Street • Cambridge, MA 02141 dmurphy@cpsd.us • www.cpsd.us February 19, 2026 Honorable Members of the Cambridge City Council & School Committee ℅ Mayor Sumbul Siddiqui 795 Massachusetts Ave Cambridge, MA 02139 Dear Mayor Siddiqui and Members of the City Council and School Committee: Thank you for the opportunity to join you for the Roundtable Meeting scheduled for Monday, February 23, 2026, at 5:30pm in the Sullivan Chamber. This meeting offers a vital opportunity to discuss the priorities driving our FY27 operating budget for the Cambridge Public Schools. Our Chief Financial Officer, Ivy Washington, and I look forward to outlining the strategic goals anchored in next year’s fiscal plan and addressing your specific inquiries. To assist with our discussion, I have enclosed a brief presentation intended to provide the necessary context and data ahead of our conversation on Monday evening. While some of this material may feel familiar to School Committee members who attended our February 3rd update, we believe it is essential to present a unified vision to both bodies. The City’s sustained and substantial investment in our schools is a testament to Cambridge's commitment to its youth; we welcome this chance to demonstrate how these resources will directly enhance the educational experience for every student in our district. We remain fully available to address any questions regarding the spending plan or our broader mission to close opportunity gaps and improve student outcomes. Should you or your staff have questions prior to the meeting, please feel free to contact CFO Washington or me directly. Thank you for your continued partnership. We look forward to a productive session on Monday night. Sincerely, David Murphy, Superintendent
