Congratulations to the Cambridge Warriors Basketball Team

RES 2026-13 FIRST IN COUNCIL February 9, 2026 City of Cambridge COUNCILLOR FLAHERTY COUNCILLOR SIMMONS COUNCILLOR AL-ZUB VICE MAYOR AZEEM COUNCILLOR MCGOVERN COUNCILLOR NOLAN COUNCILLOR SOBRINHO-WHEELER COUNCILLOR ZUSY MAYOR SIDDIQUII WHEREAS: The Cambridge Warriors Basketball Team has achieved an extraordinary undefeated season, demonstrating not only athletic excellence but also the spirit of determination and inclusion that defines our community; and WHEREAS: The following outstanding athletes - Alex Blue, James Connors, Joe Corriero- Connors, Ryan Gallagher, Jordan Harris, Jason Heath, Rem Mendes, Chris Owens, Charlie Quinn, Santiago Pineda, Abebe Ticktin, Mark Steere, James Rankins, and Radley Theolein - have inspired all of us with their teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship, reminding our city what true community spirit looks like; and WHEREAS: The Warriors’ success is a testament to the unwavering support of their coaches, families, and fans, who have cheered them on every step of the way; and WHEREAS: The Cambridge Warriors will proudly represent the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the USA Special Olympic Games in June 2026, bringing honor to our city and serving as champions of ability and achievement; and WHEREAS: The Cambridge Warriors’ success reflects the strong partnership with Cambridge Program Friends (CPF), whose commitment to inclusion and community engagement has helped create opportunities for athletes of all abilities to thrive; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record extending its heartfelt congratulations to the Cambridge Warriors Basketball Team on their undefeated season and sends them off with pride and best wishes for success at the USA Special Olympic Games in Minnesota this June; and be it further RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to the Cambridge Warriors Basketball Team as a lasting tribute to their outstanding accomplishment on behalf of the entire City Council.
