WHEREAS:
On May 18th, 2026 the City Council voted to express its desire that the City
discontinue the use of ShotSpotter technology in the City by directing the City
Manager to work with the relevant departments to rescind prior approval of
ShotSpotter; and
WHEREAS:
The City Council has direct authority pursuant to the Surveillance Ordinance to
approve or disapprove of the use of surveillance technology by the City; now
therefore be it
ORDERED:
That the City Council disapprove further use of SoundThinking’s Acoustic Gunshot
Detection Technology (ShotSpotter) by the City pursuant to the Surveillance
Technology Ordinance 2.128.060 (C).
