COUNCILLOR SIMMONS
WHEREAS:
The Cambridge City Council is pleased to join the Cambridge Education Association
and Cambridge Public Schools in congratulating the educators, administrators, staff
members, and school community professionals who are being honored upon their
retirement in 2026; and
WHEREAS:
The work of public education depends upon the dedication of many people serving in
many different roles, including classroom educators, school administrators, support
staff, specialists, building-based staff, and central office personnel, all of whom
contribute to the daily life, success, and wellbeing of Cambridge students and families;
and
WHEREAS:
Through years of service to Cambridge Public Schools, these retirees have helped
teach, guide, support, encourage, and care for generations of young people, while also
strengthening the school communities, programs, and departments in which they
served; and
WHEREAS:

WHEREAS:
These individuals represent a remarkable breadth of experience, institutional
knowledge, compassion, and commitment to the students and families of Cambridge;
and
WHEREAS:
The Cambridge Education Association and Cambridge Public Schools will honor these
retirees at a Retirement Celebration on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at First Street Market
in East Cambridge; now therefore be it
RESOLVED:
That the Cambridge City Council go on record congratulating the 2026 retirees of
Cambridge Public Schools, thanking them for their many years of dedicated service,
and extending best wishes to each of them for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling
retirement; and be it further
RESOLVED:
That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to prepare a suitably engrossed copy of
this resolution for presentation at the Retirement Celebration on behalf of the entire
Cambridge City Council.
