RES 2026-98 FIRST IN COUNCIL June 8, 2026 City of Cambridge COUNCILLOR SIMMONS WHEREAS: True Miller Bacon – a cherished daughter of Massachusetts and now a beloved presence in Georgia – has reached the extraordinary milestone of her 101st birthday, a testament to a life fully and gracefully lived; and WHEREAS: Born in an era before television, before the interstate highway, and before the civil rights movement had yet to transform the nation, Ms. Miller Bacon has witnessed more than a century of American history, weathered its trials, and emerged with her spirit and her warmth intact; and WHEREAS: Throughout her life, Ms. Miller Bacon has been a constant source of strength, wisdom, and joy to her family and all those fortunate enough to know her – and this remarkable birthday invites us to honor not only her longevity, but the depth of character and generosity of spirit that has made her life such an enduring gift to those around her; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council goes on record in extending its heartfelt wishes to True Miller Bacon for a very happy, healthy, and joyous 101st birthday, with many happy, healthy birthdays yet to come; and be it further RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to True Miller Bacon on behalf of the entire Council.
