Condolences to the family of Marcia E. Brathwaite.

RES 2026-106 FIRST IN COUNCIL August 3, 2026 City of Cambridge COUNCILLOR SIMMONS WHEREAS: The City Council was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Marcia E. Brathwaite, née McCollin, of Cambridge and formerly of St. Michael, Barbados, who passed away on June 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 69; and WHEREAS: Marcia was the beloved daughter of the late Eudora Grimes McCollin and Charles McCollin, and she carried throughout her life a deep love for her family, pride in her Barbadian roots, and a warm and caring spirit that touched the lives of those around her; and WHEREAS: Marcia was the loving mother of Natalie Jenrette and her husband Darrill, and Vanessa Allen and her husband James, and she was deeply devoted to her daughters and to the families they built; and WHEREAS: Marcia was the cherished grandmother of James C. Allen III, Joshua Allen, Caden Jenrette, Jacob Allen, Madison Jenrette, Isaiah Jenrette, and Jayla Allen, each of whom brought tremendous joy to her life and will carry forward the love and memories she shared with them; and WHEREAS: Marcia was the beloved sister of Sylvia Carmita Grimes, Phylis McCollin Skelton and her husband Silvester, Ralph McCollin, and Wilfred McCollin, and she was predeceased by her brothers George McCollin, Melvin McCollin, Joseph Tony Grimes, Ezbon Grimes, and Christopher Mappy McCollin; and WHEREAS: Marcia was the adored aunt of Karon McCollin, Sandra McCollin, and Debra Grimes Elmore, and she is also survived by a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory; now therefore be it RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record extending its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Marcia E. Brathwaite during this time of sorrow; and be it further RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to the family of Marcia E. Brathwaite on behalf of the entire Cambridge City Council.
