To the Honorable, the City Council:
I am hereby requesting the appropriation of a grant from the state Executive Office of Public Safety and
Security, in the amount of $600,000, to the Grant Fund Fire Salaries and Wages account ($24,000) and
the Grant Fund Fire Extraordinary Expenditures account ($576,000).
Funds will be used to support the purchase of new Hazmat gear to replace used and expired suits,
allowing front line firefighters to be outfitted with updated safety gear. Funds will also support updated
metering equipment and warranties, as well as Hazmat training classes.
