That the City Council go on record celebrating and honoring Saint Peter’s School on the joyous occasion of its 125th anniversary.

COUNCILLOR FLAHERTY
WHEREAS:
Saint Peter’s School was founded in 1901 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame as a
Catholic elementary school associated with Saint Peter’s Parish and dedicated to
serving Irish and Italian immigrant families in Cambridge; and
WHEREAS:
For 125 years, Saint Peter’s School has stood as a pillar of the Cambridge
community, offering a comprehensive and nurturing education to generations of
children, regardless of demographic or economic background; and
WHEREAS:
Saint Peter’s School has maintained an enduring reputation for excellence in
education, guided by its founding traditions, its commitment to innovation, and the
service of its talented faculty; and
WHEREAS:
The devoted teachers serve students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade,
providing rigorous academics, opportunities for character formation, and an
enriching, supportive, and accepting learning environment; and
WHEREAS:
The students at St. Peter’s School engage both inside and outside the classroom
through athletics, student government, theater, social justice ministry, and a wide
array of extracurricular activities, developing into capable, globally minded young
people prepared for lifelong academic success; and
WHEREAS:
Saint Peter’s School continues to offer an affordable, high-quality educational option
in the face of competition from larger private institutions, remaining a valued
resource to families in Cambridge and across Greater Boston; and
WHEREAS:
The student body reflects the diversity of Cambridge itself, bringing together children
from numerous ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds all united in a shared
commitment to learning; and
WHEREAS:
Saint Peter’s School remains dedicated to ensuring that all families seeking a faith-
based, academically strong education have access to its programs and community;
now therefore be it
RESOLVED:
That the City Council, in recognition of the extraordinary contributions to the City of
Cambridge and its residents, hereby celebrates and honors Saint Peter’s School on the
joyous occasion of its 125th anniversary; and be it further
RESOLVED:
That the Council extends its gratitude to the Saint Peter’s School faculty, staff,
families, students, and alumni for their unwavering dedication, service, and
commitment to educational excellence; and be it further
RESOLVED:
That a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Saint Peter’s School
in commemoration of this milestone and in appreciation of its ongoing role as a
cherished and enduring institution in the Cambridge community on behalf of the
entire City Council.
