Councillor vanBeuzekom, Councillor Cheung, Mayor Davis, Councillor Decker, Councillor Maher, Councillor Reeves, Vice Mayor Simmons, Councillor Toomey

WHEREAS: A goal of the Cambridge City Council is to "Strengthen and Support Human Services, Public Education and Out of School Learning in Cambridge for the benefit of residents of all ages"; and

WHEREAS: The City of Cambridge has recently completed an award-winning public library at signficiant cost to the taxpayers; and

WHEREAS: The Cambridge City Library system has more open hours per week than most communities in the Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS: The main branch of the Cambridge City Library system is closed on Sundays; and

WHEREAS: Many families and individual residents will enjoy the use of this excellent resource on Sundays; now therefore be it

ORDERED: That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to work with the staff of the Cambridge City Library system so that the main library will be open on Sundays throughout the entire year; and be it further

ORDERED: That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to report back to the City Council with an explanation as to when the main library will be open on Sundays.
