Fly Club Preservation Restriction, 2 Holyoke Place
At a public meeting on December 1, 2016, the Cambridge Historical Commission voted to recommend approval of the attached order relating to a Preservation Restriction for The Fly Club building at 2 Holyoke Place, Cambridge. The Fly Club (built 1896) is a significant historical property in the Harvard Square neighborhood. The Preservation Restriction will extend the protected features to include significant interior architectural features and will extend the duration of the protections.
The non-profit organization that holds the Preservation Restriction is Preservation Massachusetts, Inc. The City of Cambridge is not itself a party to the Preservation Restriction, but Ch. 184, Sec. 32 of state law empowers the City of Cambridge, through the City Manager and the City Council, to approve preservation restrictions for historically significant structures. Please let me know if you have any questions.
