Be it enacted by the Senate and the House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same as follows: SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the position of Fire Chief of the City of Cambridge shall be exempt from Chapter 31 of the General Laws. SECTION 2. Section 1 of this act shall not impair the civil service status of any incumbent holding the office of Fire Chief of the City of Cambridge on the effective date of this act. SECTION 3. This act supersedes and replaces Chapter 262 of the Acts of 1937. SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
