To the Honorable, the City Council:
I write to provide an updated summary of recent Cambridge School Committee activity. The Superintendent shared updates on district initiatives, including a partnership supported by the Cambridge Community Foundation (CCF). CCF will donate in-kind strategic planning services to the Cambridge Public Schools. CCF will retain external strategic partner Attuned Education Partners to work with the School Committee and district leadership to design and facilitate a comprehensive planning process.
This will include an organizational diagnostic, as well as facilitated sessions to develop 10-year aspirations, 4-year mission measures and targets, and a 4- year strategic plan. The School Committee approved this recommendation. We reviewed a forward-looking schedule of presentations and reports, helping ensure the Committee is focused on the most important priorities through the end of the school year. These topics include the AI Guideline Development update, Screen Time use, and School Choice.
The Committee approved several consent agenda items, including student services, professional development, technology infrastructure, and federal grant funding — all essential to supporting day-to-day operations.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or requests for additional information. Sincerely,
Sumbul Siddiqui
Mayor of Cambridge (2020-21, 2022-23, 2026-27)
