Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) was founded in 1999 by Tim Rowe in Kendall
Square with the purpose to support innovation and the growth of start-up companies; and
CIC’s role fostering innovation by supporting entrepreneurs with the resources they need to affect positive change helped transform Kendall Square into the world’s most innovative square mile; and
CIC, as a founding member, and Tim Rowe, as its first Chair, supported the creation of the Kendall Square Association which has helped tell the story of Kendall’s success, while growing the company to also support entrepreneurs in Boston, Miami, Philadelphia, Providence, Rotterdam, and St. Louis; and
In addition to hosting more than 6,000 companies over the years in Kendall Square, CIC is now bringing its support for innovation and entrepreneurship to cities across the globe; now therefore be it
RESOLVED: That the City Council go on record congratulating CIC for 20 years of experimenting boldly and for its important contributions to the economic and civic vitality of the City of Cambridge; and be it further
RESOLVED: That the City Clerk be and hereby is requested to forward a suitably engrossed copy of this resolution to Cambridge Innovation Center on behalf of the entire City Council.
