City Clerk Screening Committee
An ad hoc screening committee, not one of the standing committees. It met five times between March 23 and May 7, 2026 to consider applicants for City Clerk. The council adopted the framework such committees work under in POR 2016 #138 (May 9, 2016); appointing the City Clerk is the council's own to do, and the rules put the hiring of employees who report to the council within the Government Operations, Rules & Claims Committee's charge.

What it takes up
- To receive and screen applicants for the position of City Clerk, and to forward finalists to the City Council;
- To do that screening in executive session — the reason stated on each of its own agendas is that doing so in open session “will have a detrimental effect in obtaining qualified applicants.”
